Ehipassiko
Come and See for Yourself

When the Buddha said "Ehipassiko," he meant...

“Do not believe in anything simply because:

you have heard it;

it is spoken and rumored by many;

it is found written in your religious books;

on the authority of your teachers and elders;

because it has been handed down for many generations.

But, after careful observation and analysis, when you find anything that agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”

– Kalama Sutra, Aṅguttara Nikāya Vol I. (Adapted from E.H. Johnston’s translation)

What is meant
Direct experience delivers a different type of wisdom which is not exchangeable for other, more mediated types. Unmediated wisdom is the only litmus test for which we should judge things.
